8 Months Old Today!

My Sweet girl is 8 months old today! She is doing new things everyday and has so much personality. She's finally able to wear some of the many frocks she received as gifts. Check out the fancy steppers in the last pic, a gift from Grandma.

Who needs Fisher Price when you have empty butter boxes and old cake pans. Fun, fun.

This is the only time she's been in that beautiful crib that I just had to have.

Cheese Mommeeeeeeee

Maybe one day I'll take a picture where you can't see my molars. Good grief.

I'm ready for my close up Mr. Demille.

Look at these sweet steppers, Manolo Blahnik eat your heart out babeeeee!

Sittin Pretty

My Muffin Butt is sitting up!!!!!For the last few weeks she'd sit up for a few seconds but fall over. Over the last couple of days she's been sitting for 2-3 minutes at a time. Whoopeee go Gracie girl! Hubby says he can't wait for her to walk but me I'm just enjoying every second of her. I don't want to rush it. As a matter of fact, I wish I could slow time so I could make sure that I don't miss anything. Smooches from Lalaland(Heaven on Earth)

Readoption

Yesterday, we were able to have Gracie's foreign adoption "recognized" by our state. Some call this "readoption". It was a quick and painless process thank goodness. Some states make it really difficult with a waiting period and all kinds of hoops but not so here. This also enabled us to change her name. Today I mailed the forms to the vital statistics dept. so that a new birth certificate can be issued with her permanent name. So my sweet girl will heretofore and forever be known as the fair "Noelle Grace". There's a debate raging on the forum regarding whether or not to retain your child's Ethiopian name. The name that Gracie was given I did not like.....at all. As her parents, hubby and I reserve the right to choose her name and that's what we did. For others who choose to keep the Ethiopian name I say that's wonderful, each family has to make their own decisions. What I don't care for is the self righteous attitude that some people adopt when it comes to this. Gracie is OUR child, any decisions made concerning her will be based on our beliefs, concerns, wants and or needs etc. I sometimes feel other APs put to much emphasis on the child's birth family. Constantly showing the child the life dvd, placing pics of the birth family in the child's nursery etc. Now for older children this may be a pertinent thing to do. However, I can't see how it benefits a child that you adopted as a young infant. I think it would be far wiser to focus on your relationship with the child instead of constantly reinforcing the image of the birthfamily . I am not Gracie's babysitter, second mom, stepmom, second best mom whatever. I am her mother, period. When the time comes we will tell our sweet baby girl everything we know about her birthmother and do our best to answer any questions she may have. However, I refused to have her entire life revolve around her genetic beginnings. Smooches

4th of July Fun

We had a great 4th of July. A little fun in the pool and then later there was a great fireworks show and all we had to do was sit on our back porch and enjoy.

Auntie Na stop by for a visit and Ms. Gracie decided give her a deja vu moment. Na's oldest daughter, the fair Ms. Kendall, would NEVER let me get anywhere near her as a baby. She would scream bloody murder the entire time I was within 2 feet of her. Ahhh such sweet memories. Thanks Auntie Na for the bottom warmers. Cya next time!!!

Ice Cream Delight

Uh oh, I think someone loves chocolate ice cream. Hubby and I went to see Hancock today, awesome film by the way, and afterwards we stopped and got ice cream. Well Ms. Gracie just about had a fit until I gave her a little taste. Oh my goodness why did I start it, she absolutely loved it. Evenutally I had to cut her off because it can't be good for her at this age, can it? My girl, loves to eat. I'll have to make sure she stays very active because chubby thighs aren't cute as an adult. Her beloved daddy had a big cone just like mine, but Mr. Greedy ate every bit himself. He said he loved his baby girl far too much to give her any of his awful ice cream. Whatever Daddio, your waistline would beg to differ i'm sure.
