A Question of Ethics
For the most part, I keep my blog light and avoid "deep" issues. This is done purposely because I feel you rarely can change someone's deep convictions.
The forum, that I continue to read in spite of my best efforts not to, thrives on volatile issues. Today I read something that was truly shocking & disturbing to me.
An AP of an older child apparently hired an investigator to research the child's "true" background. Apparently what she learned led her to return to Ethiopia an attempt to return the child. The child's family gave her permission to keep her in the US.
I don't know what any of you would do in this situation but as for me, they would have to pry Gracie from my cold dead hands to take her away from me. And that's all I have to say about that.

Ditto B. Ditto
I love Beyonce and thought she did an awesome job last night serenading the First Couple. Of course the town crier (me) couldn't stop the tears.
Yes, that is our President and his First Lady!
You can just feel his love for her. African American women are not often portrayed as being beautiful, smart and worthy of complete adoration. Mr. President, thank you for doing just that. I'm crying again, oh geez

This Day
My heart is so full right now, I cannot finds the words to express my joy. On this day, like so many others, I am so proud to be an American. I love this picture of our President Obama and the First Lady Michelle's hands. She is his rock. Beautiful
Gracie and I marked the occasion by wearing pearls in our of our First Lady.
This is my poor baby looking at her momma screaming, crying and praising God to the top of my longs. Poor baby I hope I didn't do any permanent psychological damage LOL.
HAPPY HAPPY DAY
I am just dancing around in a circle, I'M SO EXCITED. I hope I can hold onto myself until my beloved President is sworn in. It feels like Christmas on steroids!!!!!

Happy Martin Luther King Day
What a joyous MLK Day this is. Dr. King must be in heaven right now doing the happy dance. We are on the eve of GREATNESS!! I've been beside myself all day. I'm so emotional, crying at the drop of a hat everytime I see our President Elect on the screen. It is still so surreal. Tomorrow Gracie and I will have our pearls on in honor of our First Lady Michelle Obama, I encourage everyone to do the same. Barack makes me want to be a better citizen, mom, human. I will strive not to disappoint him. One more day........

Outdoor Matinee
We went to an outdoor showing of Kung Fu Panda on Saturday. It was so much fun. We had another unseasonably warm night so the weather was perfect. Gracie had fun running around before the movie started and watched the show intently (for awhile) after it started.
What ever happened to drive in theatres? Boy how I miss those. When I was young my teenage brothers and sister would sneak me into the drive-in hidden under a blanket. Fun times.

Old School Hip Hop
I watched VH1 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs and man it brought back some great memories. I used to absolutely love hip hop music before it degenerated into the misogynistic, foul language, gangster mess it is today. In the 80's & 90's rap was in it's heyday. I had so many favorites but posted Pete Rock & CL Smooth's Reminisce. I would literally scream and jump outta my seat everytime I heard it. It's on my Ipod right now. Ahhhhh those were the days.

Such a Pretty Day
Today's weather was glorious. Gracie and I decided to take full advantage and went for a walk with her in the Gmobile.
As we were walking out the door, my mom said are you going to comb her hair? I said heck no, the paparazzi will just have to snap pics of her in all her adorable natural glory!
Daddy came home early from work yayyyy, photoshoot on his car.
Slow down little girl, that concrete is very unforgiving.
Uh oh boo boo from that mean ole concrete.
On the way to pick up Grandma's glasses that she left at the doc's yesterday. Don't worry grandma, I got you covered!

Scary Day
This morning my mom woke me up around 4:45am and said her blood pressure was up. I panicked because for her to wake me up it must have really been high. I check it and it was 219/114!!! My heart almost jumped out of my chest, hubby and I both were insisting she go to the ER but she refused, said she would try to get it down on her own. She took an extra blood pressure pill and I continued to check her BP. After about 40 mins it started to gradually come down. Despite her objections, I scheduled an appt. with a cardiologist that I know and that she's seen before. They did an EKG & Echocardiogram and felt they looked pretty good. No significant changes from the last ones. He thought the steroid shots she had in her knees yesterday caused the BP spike, who knows. He changed one of her BP meds, so we'll see how that works. I tell you I was so unnerved today and I'm still worried sick.
On a good note, my sweetums was such an angel today. She played quietly in her stroller and didn't have any outburts. Perhaps my sweet baby felt the gravity of the day. Thank you being such a good girl today Gracie, mommy luvs you so.

Random Pics & Such
Just a few random pics since I haven't posted anything in awhile. Ms. Gracie is changing everyday. Her little personality keeps hubby and I in stitches. I can only imagine how she'll be once she starts talking. I was so happy that she loved this spaghetti, she ate every bit of it. The next day she clamped her mouth shut and vigorously shook her head no while saying unnh, unnh.
On New Year's Eve, hubby and I went to Walmart in an attempt to tire missy out. It sorta worked and we were able to creep out and see The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons. I loved that movie! Great love story and Brad Pitt is indeed a studmuffin. Call me crazy but I never really noticed that before.
Today, I took my mom to the doctor because she has severe arthritis and it has really started to affect her quality of life. I made the unfortunate mistake of scheduling the appt. during Gracie's nap time. I have NEVER seen my child behave this way. She cried and carried on something awful. She had the entire office lit up! I took her out in the hallway a couple of times but I really wanted to be with my mom when she talked with the doc. That was the absolute longest doctor's appt. I've ever had to endure. Ms. Gracie would not be soothed with crackers, milk, Elmo nothing. She just howled & howled. The above pics were taken while she was regaining her breath/strength for another howling session. We tried the crackers again for the umpteenth time and she finally quieted down and started snacking. When the doctor came in he said well somebody's happy! Oh look you were just hungry that's all. So my mom and I both look at each other like oh great everyone thinks we were starving the child to death. My baby girl, gotta luv her.
